A Message From Supervisor Kate Murray

Dear Friends,

“Old Man Winter” was downright cranky this year, blitzing us with record-breaking cold and snowfall. As we trudged along slushy walks and icy roads, summer seemed a long way off!
The nasty winter has finally blown out of town and a tardy spring thaw has given way to a brilliant summer sun that glistens upon our beautiful beaches, refreshing pools and emerald green golf courses.
The summer excitement in Hempstead Town comes full circle from the June 27 Independence Celebration at Town Park, Point Lookout with Los Lobos and fireworks, to the thrilling town triathlon on September 12, right back at our majestic beach.
In between we have 33 free evening concerts, fitness, art and swim classes and summer-long recreation programs for youngsters.
At long last we can take out the sunscreen, bathing suits, golf clubs and lacrosse sticks. The parks are finally snow free and the only ice left is at Newbridge Arena. So let’s make this a summer to remember courtesy of America’s finest parks system.
