The Town of Hempstead is conducting road improvement projects in the communities listed below. All projects undertaken by the Town of Hempstead provide for maintaining access at all times. However, on some occasions, traffic interruption and temporary disuse of driveways cannot be avoided. In this respect, we appeal for patience, understanding and cooperation on the part of local residents.
Soper Avenue, Baldwin
Project Area - Soper Avenue in Baldwin.
Road Improvement - The project includes the construction of new curbs, driveway aprons, installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement and the restoration of disturbed grass areas. Project is currently underway and is scheduled to complete in July 2009.
Verity Lane, Baldwin
Project Area - Verity Lane in Baldwin.
Road Improvement - The project includes the installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement and the restoration of disturbed grass areas. Project is underway and will complete in July 2009.
Parking Field L-1, Levittown
Project Area - Parking Field L-1 in Levittown.
Reconstruction of Parking Field - The project includes the construction of new curbs, installation of pedestrian access ramps, sidewalks, lighting, new asphalt pavement, and the restoration of disturbed grass areas. Project is underway and will complete in June 2009.
Parking Field L-2, Levittown
Project Area - Parking Field L-2 in Levittown.
Reconstruction of Parking Field - The project includes drainage, new asphalt pavement, and striping. Project is underway and will complete in June 2009.
Oceanside Road West, Oceanside
Project Area - Oceanside Road West in Oceanside.
Road Improvement - The project includes the construction of new curbs, driveway aprons, installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement and the restoration of disturbed grass areas. Project will commence shortly and will complete in August 2009.
Stanley Drive - Cynthia Lane Area, Merrick
Project Area - Barry Court, Nelson Court, Stanley Drive and a portion of Cynthia Lane in Merrick.
Road Improvement - The project includes the construction of new curbs, driveway aprons, installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement and the restoration of disturbed grass areas. Project is underway and will complete in July 2009.
Paff Avenue - Leonard Avenue Area, Uniondale
Project Area - Leonard Avenue, Paff Avenue, Elm Place, Pine Place, Spruce Place and a portion of Davis Avenue in Uniondale.
Storm Water Drain and Road Improvement - The project includes the construction of two new catch basins and the removal and replacement of the concrete tops on 15 existing catch basins. The project will also include the construction of new curbs, driveway aprons, installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement, and the restoration of any disturbed grass areas. Project is underway and will complete in July 2009.
South Merrick Area Phase III
Project Area - Julian Lane, Joyce Lane, Elm Place, Lowell Lane and Preston Lane in Merrick.
Storm Water Drain and Road Improvement - The project includes the construction of new curbs, driveway aprons, installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement, and the restoration of any disturbed grass areas.
Ocean Avenue Area, Seaford, Phase II
Project Area - Ocean Avenue, between Bayview Street and Nimrod Street in Seaford.
Storm Water Drain and Road Improvement - The project includes the construction of new curbs at locations as needed to replace existing misaligned curbs, replacement of driveway aprons, installation of pedestrian access ramps at all intersections, new asphalt pavement, and the restoration of any disturbed grass areas.
