The spirit of volunteerism is one of the things that make Hempstead Town such a wonderful place in which to live, work and raise a family. With so many people going “above and beyond” to help out in their communities, America’s largest township has maintained its reputation for offering an excellent quality of life for its almost 800,000 residents.
On Tuesday, May 24, 2016 at 7 PM the Town of Hempstead will hold its annual Make-a-Difference Awards ceremony, honoring men and women who have demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism to benefit the residents of their communities. We all know someone in our town who just seems to be everywhere at once, leading the way in fundraising events, bringing attention to important community issues and helping fellow residents in need.
We in the Town of Hempstead are asking for your assistance in nominating such individuals, so that we may honor them during this awards ceremony and give them the recognition they deserve. Each of the honorees, 12 in total, will be selected by the town’s awards committee to receive the Make a Difference Award.
If you wish to nominate someone who goes "above and beyond" to help out in their community, please forward us a resume of the nominee's volunteer activities. Please include specific details on their volunteer work and describe what they did and whom did it benefit. The resume must include the nominee's full name, address and telephone number, as well as your name, address and telephone number. Nominees must be residents of the Town of Hempstead. Nominations are being accepted through Friday, April 15, 2016. Each of the honorees will be selected by the town’s Awards Committee to receive the Make a Difference Award. Please mail nominations to: 2016 Make a Difference Awards, Office of Communications and Public Affairs, Town of Hempstead, 1 Washington Street, 2nd Floor, Hempstead, NY 11550
