The Luck of the Irish Awaits Animal Lovers at Hempstead Animal Shelter; Town to Waive All Adoption Fees on St. Patrick’s Day

Legend has it that every rainbow has a pot of gold at the end of it. In Hempstead Town, the colorful spectrum ends at the town Animal Shelter in Wantagh, where a priceless treasure of adorable cats and dogs with hearts of gold await adoption.

On March 17, 2012 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter will host its inaugural “Lucky You, Lucky Me” Pet Adoption Event, during which all adoption fees will be waived for town residents. Even leprechauns will join the party to help give residents some added fortune in finding a great cat or dog to take home

“You don’t need a four-leaf clover to get the luck of the Irish this St. Patrick’s Day – at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter, a four-legged friend will bring you joy and happiness all year,” said Animal Shelter Director Cynthia Iacopella. “And, with all adoption fees waived, this is a golden opportunity for residents to adopt a new friend.”

All cats and dogs adopted at this event will receive free spaying/neutering, rabies vaccinations and microchipping. Cats are also tested for feline AIDS/leukemia.

What’s more, all residents who bring food, treats or toys for shelter animals will be eligible to win prizes. Baked goods for both humans and animals will be available, and baskets of goodies will be raffled off to benefit the Shelter’s “Tails of Hope Fund.” This fund helps to finance extraordinary medical surgeries and other costs for sick animals.

“Your ‘pot of gold’ is waiting here at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter,” concluded Iacopella. “Come on down this St. Patrick’s Day and make your own luck by adopting a great cat or dog for your family.”
