Town Animal Shelter to Hold Foster Care and Volunteering Seminar on December 8th

The Hempstead Town Animal Shelter will be holding a Foster Care and Volunteering Seminar on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 12 p.m. at the shelter (3320 Beltagh Avenue, Wantagh). All residents interested in fostering a cat or dog, or volunteering their time at the shelter, are urged to attend this informative meeting.

“By volunteering your time and/or fostering a cat or dog, you are helping to make a real difference in the lives of shelter animals, contributing to their becoming excellent candidates for permanent adoption,” said Shelter Director Cynthia Iacopella. “During this seminar, our dedicated shelter staff will offer detailed information about these programs.”

Through the shelter’s Foster Volunteer Program, a family temporarily adopts a shelter cat or dog, to help the animal become more comfortable living a home environment. General volunteers are also needed, and will be assigned to a range of different tasks at the shelter.

The one-hour seminar will provide an overview of the shelter’s foster care and volunteer programs, and detail the requirements and procedures for becoming involved. Volunteer applications will be available.
