FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers

To find the nearest recovery center, the following options are available:

  • Text DRC and a Zip Code to 43362 (4FEMA), and a text message will be sent back with the address.

Individuals also can find a recovery center – and register for FEMA help – online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov via smartphone or tablet at m.fema.gov, by downloading the FEMA app or calling 800-621-3362.

NY Rising Housing Recovery Program

In response to Hurricane Sandy, and with the Federal Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) funding, New York State (the State) developed the NY Rising Housing Recovery Program along with several other Disaster Recovery initiatives as outlined in the State’s Action Plan. The NY Rising Housing Recovery Program is designed to help New Yorkers that were impacted by Hurricane Sandy, Hurricane Irene, or Tropical Storm Lee to recover and rebuild, and just as importantly, to stimulate economic growth in the affected communities.

Free and Confidential Counseling Services

Free and confidential counseling services are available to children, adolescents and adults adversely affected by Superstorm Sandy. Certified Social Workers are now available at the Barry and Florence Friedberg Jewish Community Center located at 15 Neil Court in Oceanside.
