FEMA Disaster Recovery Centers

To find the nearest recovery center, the following options are available:

• Text DRC and a Zip Code to 43362 (4FEMA), and a text message will be sent back with the address.

• The Disaster Recovery Center locator is available online at www.FEMA.gov/disaster-recovery-centers.

Individuals also can find a recovery center – and register for FEMA help – online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov or via smartphone or tablet by going to m.fema.gov or by downloading the FEMA app.

FEMA/SBA Filing Deadlines

The registration deadline for FEMA disaster assistance related to Hurricane Sandy in New York has been extended to Saturday, April 13, 2013. Contact FEMA at 800-621-3362 or online at www.DisasterAssistance.gov. The deadline to return the application for a U.S. Small Business Administration disaster loan has been extended to April 13, 2013.

Free and Confidential Counseling Services

Free and confidential counseling services are available to children, adolescents and adults adversely affected by Superstorm Sandy. Certified Social Workers are now available at the Barry and Florence Friedberg Jewish Community Center located at 15 Neil Court in Oceanside. Department of Parks and Recreation

New telephone lines have been established for Lido Beach Town Park, Town Park Point Lookout and Town Park at Sands. For Town Park Point Lookout, please call 516-801-5649 or 516-801-5650. To reach Lido Beach Town Park, call 516-801-5647 or 516-801-5648. To reach Town Park at Sands please call 801-5647 or 801-5648. Completed picnic permit requests may be faxed to (516) 292-0527. 

Department of Senior Enrichment

Please note that as a result of damages sustained from Hurricane Sandy, the following changes are in effect until repairs are completed:

• Merrick Seniors will meet at the Merrick Golf Course Clubhouse located at 2550 Clubhouse Road.
• Oceanside Seniors will meet at the Baldwin Senior Center located at 1810 North Grand Avenue.
• All activities and scheduled transportation will take place at the alternate sites.
